Our approach

Life can be both beautiful and difficult. At times, the pressures, pain, and experiences we face can feel overwhelming, leaving us uncertain about how to move forward. Mindex is a structured, mind-body counselling approach that helps clients reverse unhelpful patterns and restore healthy emotional control. Developed by Karen Taylor, the Mindex Reverse Method blends evidence-based counselling techniques with mindfulness and self-regulation practices.

Counselling offers a confidential and compassionate space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions, gain clarity, and develop tools to manage life’s challenges more effectively. At Healthier Mind Healthier Body, we offer counselling services designed to support your mental and emotional well-being. My approach is tailored to your unique needs, providing a safe and supportive environment for growth and healing. 

 

Stress Counselling

I personalised one-on-one sessions to address your specific challenges and goals.

Stress is a natural part of life, but when it becomes constant or overwhelming, it can impact your emotional and physical wellbeing. Chronic stress can lead to anxiety, irritability, sleep difficulties, fatigue, and a sense of losing control.

In counselling, we’ll work together to identify the sources of your stress — whether they stem from work, relationships, finances, or personal expectations. We’ll explore how you currently cope and introduce new, healthier strategies to manage pressure more effectively.

Using techniques such as mindfulness, relaxation exercises, and cognitive reframing, you can begin to regain balance, resilience, and perspective. The goal is not to remove all stress, but to empower you with tools to handle it in a way that supports your wellbeing and quality of life.

Trauma Counselling

Trauma can arise from experiences that leave you feeling powerless, frightened, or deeply unsafe — such as accidents, abuse, violence, or sudden loss. Even after the event has passed, trauma can remain in the body and mind, influencing your emotions, relationships, and sense of safety.

In trauma counselling, I offer a calm and non-judgmental environment where you can process your experiences at your own pace. Our work may include grounding techniques to help you feel more present, gentle exploration of difficult memories, and building emotional regulation skills to reduce distressing symptoms like flashbacks or hypervigilance.

Over time, trauma counselling helps you integrate your experiences, rebuild trust in yourself and others, and begin to move from surviving to living more fully again.

   

Loss and Bereavement Counselling

Loss is an inevitable part of life — yet it can feel devastating when someone or something meaningful is gone. Whether you are grieving the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or another major life change, your grief is unique to you.

In counselling, you are given the space to express your emotions freely — sadness, anger, guilt, confusion, or even relief — without judgment. We’ll explore the impact of your loss and the ways it has changed your life, identity, and relationships.

Grief doesn’t have a set timeline. My role is to walk beside you as you find your way through it — helping you understand and honour your loss while discovering how to live meaningfully alongside it.

Panic Attack and Anxiety Counselling

Panic attacks can be frightening, often coming on suddenly and accompanied by intense physical symptoms such as a racing heart, shortness of breath, dizziness, or fear of losing control. Over time, this can lead to anticipatory anxiety — the fear of having another panic attack.

Counselling for panic attacks focuses on understanding what triggers these responses and learning techniques to manage them. Together, we’ll look at the connection between your thoughts, body, and emotions, and develop coping strategies to help you feel more grounded and in control.

You’ll learn skills such as breathing regulation, cognitive restructuring, and body awareness exercises to help reduce the frequency and intensity of panic attacks. With support and practice, it’s possible to regain confidence, calm, and freedom in your daily life.

Low Self-Esteem Counselling

Low self-esteem can affect every aspect of life — relationships, career, confidence, and decision-making. It often stems from early experiences, critical environments, or repeated messages that leave you doubting your worth.

Counselling offers a safe place to explore the roots of your self-image and to challenge negative self-beliefs that no longer serve you. Through guided reflection, compassion-focused therapy, and strengths-based approaches, we work on building a healthier, kinder relationship with yourself.

The aim is to help you develop genuine self-acceptance, recognise your strengths, and create a foundation of inner confidence that supports your personal growth and wellbeing.
